Perfect Day to be a princess Sheryl was married in her local church on a beautiful autumn day with the help of three little bridesmaids and four burly best men.

On a warm sunny day in September Sheryl Maher walked up the aisle at St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Bleadon to join her husband-to-be, Rob Selway.

She wore a wedding dress by “Maggie Sottero” supplied and bought at Rookery Manor Bridal.

“It was a big white wedding and exactly what we had wanted for many years,” said Sheryl.

Sheryl also said that Holly her Daughter took one look at her Mum in the wedding dress and said: “Mummy you look like a princess.”

The wedding celebrations were held at Rookery Manor Wedding Venue.

“Rookery Manor is a one-stop wedding shop. We were treated like royalty and Rookery Manor staff were superb. I didn’t have to think,” explained Sheryl.

Sheryl, who lives nearby, stayed the night before at Rookery Manor Hotel and in the morning her hairdresser (who was also supplied by Rookery Manor) and a beautician Kelly Hooper from Rookery Manor Health & Beauty Salon came to her room to get her ready.

She was then whisked away to her local church for the ceremony.

“The car was a £300,000 2007 Rolls Royce Phantom, which was a hit with the men.” Said Sheryl. “It was amazing.”

The couple were married at St Peter and St Paul’s Church where her parents were married in 1974, and also where Sheryl was christened.

In the days leading up to the wedding, Sheryl kept on bursting into tears, so much so, that Rob, a former soldier and now a car salesman, said he hoped she didn’t cry on their wedding day and embarrass him.

“I smiled all day,” Sheryl said, “but Rob cried four times during the day, and even one of his best men cried too, when he tried to read a poem that he had written for us.”

Rob enlisted four best men: Brian Jones, Paul Evans, Dave Watson and Lee Stedman. Two were friends from the Army and two he knew from school days.

At the reception 75 guests gathered to enjoy a cold fork buffet. “Our first dance was to Chasing Cars, which was perfect, with roman candle pyrotechnics coming out on the dance floor. The photographer was outstanding and you hardly knew he was there.” Looking back, Sheryl said: “It was a beautiful day, with not a cloud in the sky. A great time was had by all. I would do it all over again if I could.”
